Week 1 Stats & Solving Your George Kittle Crisis
What's up, Props fam?
That was one of the most chaotic opening weekends of football that I can remember.
Sprinkled throughout all of the madness were a few injuries, and I wanted to pop in and talk about some of them, along with a few other crazy statistics.
Let's dive into it.
Harold Fannin is the real deal in Cleveland – and honestly, as long as Joe Flacco remains the starting quarterback, we should be paying attention.
Fannin played over 70% of the snaps in Week 1, with Cleveland leaning heavily on two-tight-end sets (mainly because they don't really have a proven third wide receiver).
Here's where it gets interesting: Fannin ran routes on 60% of Flacco's dropbacks and ranked first on the team with a 20% target share according to Fantasy Points. That's not a fluke – that's a role.
Fannin is currently rostered in less than 1% of ESPN leagues, and that number will be flipped on its head by Thursday.

Dallas Goedert could also be a league winner – he saw a 30% target share in Week 1. You may have caught some buzz that A.J. Brown "won" ZERO routes in Week 1.
Brown was banged up for most of training camp, and he had a few seasons in Tennessee when lingering issues nagged him all year.
I'm not ready to totally panic, but it's possible Brown won't get right this season. If that's the case, the time is now to buy low on Goedert and DeVonta Smith.

How about Juwan Johnson?
He ran routes on almost 100% of dropbacks and commanded a 24% target share. I love how he lines up all over the field – the versatility is elite.
I think he's a nice reserve TE with upside to start every week, even though it feels gross to say that about a Saints pass-catcher. I will definitely keep an eye on what his lines open at this week.
Tyler Warren's role is legit. There may have been nobody who more aggressively soared up best ball drafts late in August, and early indications suggest it was completely warranted.
Look, Indy played a miserable Miami team, who I think will implode by the end of the month, but nine targets in a game they played well ahead in was beautiful to watch.
My favorite detail?
He recorded a rushing attempt. While it only went for three yards, that leaves room for a handful of possible rushing touchdowns this season (a role in which he was frequently used at Penn State), which could cement him into the mid-to-high TE1 conversation.
Warren led ALL tight ends with a 31% target market share in Week 1. Somehow, he isn't owned in 11% of ESPN leagues.
If he isn't owned in your league or, for some reason, another manager is willing to deal him, I'd spring to my phone to make the call. I'm also hoping to see if oddsmakers set a line for rushing attempts for him next week.
Finally, he's available in… no leagues… and he's not a tight end… but we have to talk about Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
JSN might have broken advanced analytics in Week 1. The second-year receiver has a clear path to an alpha role without DK Metcalf and just an aging Cooper Kupp opposite him.
JSN recorded a 90% air-yard share over the weekend. (NINETY PERCENT!) I don't think I've ever seen that before, and I'm not sure we'll ever see it again. That made his modest 56% target share look absolutely pedestrian by comparison.
It was only one week, but if you want any signs pointing toward a breakout season, you just found one.
